BIOMIRA Inc. and Merck KGaA report that vaccine Theratope has failed two predetermined end points of time to disease progression and overall survival in a pivotal Phase III trial in metastatic breast cancer. Further analysis is underway of a subset of patients on hormonal treatment following chemotherapy, as well the complete trial data.

"We've reduced our estimate from $142 million to $52 million in 2008, based on sales primarily in colorectal cancer," says an analyst.
