Crucell, Kimron sign vaccine pact. (Markets: Life Sciences).

THE DUTCH vaccine and antibody company Crucell NV and the Kimron Veterinary Institute of Israel, the research arm of the Veterinary Services of the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture, have formed a licensing agreement for developing a veterinary vaccine for the West Niles virus.

The program will focus on the development and registration of a "whole killed" West Nile veterinary vaccine based on Crucell's PER.C6 cell line technology. Crucell's PER.C6 is a human cell line developed for large-scale production of vaccines, antibodies and other biotechnology products. As a "whole killed" vaccine, although the virus is inactivated, it will be able to elicit an effective immune response, says Crucell.
