Chemical Market Reporter, July, 2003
TOSHIBA Corp. and Toshiba Ceramics Company Ltd. have developed a lithium-silicate based ceramic material they say has "exceptional carbon dioxide [[CO.sub.2]] absorption characteristics." The two companies also say that the new ceramic is capable of over 500 cycles of absorption and discharge without any falling away in absorbing ability. Usually, [CO.sub.2]-absorbing ceramics are available only in a cylindrical form, but Toshiba Group's new application is spherical, which releases all [CO.sub.2] during discharge, and is ideal for repeated use at high temperature applications.
