Men's Wholesale Prices Fall 0.5% During August
Wholesale prices for men's and boys' apparel in August were down 0.5 per cent from July prices, but rose 0.8 per cent from the August 1985 prices, according to seasonally-adjusted figures released by the Labor Department Friday.
The producer price index for all finished goods in August rose 0.1 per cent over July and fell 1.8 per cent from August 1985. After adjusting for seasonal factors, the August index rose 0.3 per cent over the prior month.
The department noted that the August increase was affected by finished energy goods prices that were much smaller than the nearrecord decrease registered in July. The index for finished goods other than foods and energy again moved up marginally. ...
