Spencer Reorganization Filing Expected by Oct. 1
Spencer Companies, Inc., which is operating in Chapter 11 proceedings here, expects to file a reorganization plan in bankruptcy court by Oct. 1, according to an attorney for the company.
The attorney, Paul D. Moore of Foley, Hoag, & Eliot, declined to disclose details of the plan at this time. Meanwhile, C. Charles Marran, chairman, said that Spencer, a discount footwear retailer, is operating at a break-even level.
Spencer had reported that it expected to file a plan in "the near future' in a press release announcing that Paul F. O'Conor had resigned as president and director of the company. Marran will become acting president on an interim basis.
