Macy's to Open First Specialty Store Oct. 15

R.H. Macy's first specialty store, called Aeropostale, will open Oct. 15 with a pilot store in Newport Center, a new mall being built on the water-front in Jersey City, N.J., according to Steve Sacks, senior leasing representative for Melvin Simon & Associates, the mall developer.

Aeropostale, one of four specialty chains envisioned by Macy's, will be a unisex apparel store catering primarily to young men.

The store will carry bomber jackets, baggy pants, and similar items evoking images of aviators in World War 2, according to Sacks.

Describing the decor, Sacks said, "They're going to have a gas pump in the store. It will be like walking into an airplane hangar.'
