Trio of Magnates Seem to Have Broken Contribution Law WASHINGTON (FNS) -- Handing out $1,000 here and $1,000 there to help elect favorite candidates, a well-meaning magnate could overstep the law. Records indicate that New York mega-developer Donald Trump, mall developer John J. Cafaro and financier Henry Kravis have all apparently violated federal campaign contribution regulations.
Trump, who also owns 27.2 percent of Alexander's department stores; Cafaro, executive vice-president of the Cafaro Co., the sixth largest retail shopping mall developer in the U.S.; and Kravis, partner in the leveraged buyout firm of Kohlberg, Kravis Robers & Co. and husband of fashion designer Carolyn Roehm, all appear to have exceeded the $25,000 annual contribution limit to...
