Lazarus Gets Green Thumb Award, Some Big Retailers Don't Show NEW YORK -- The 30th Annual Green Thumb Award Luncheon picked up a few splinters Tuesday, as Federated-Allied, May Co., and Macy's executives failed to show up in apparent protest of the presentation of the award to Charles Lazarus, chairman, Toys `R' Us, parent of Kids `R' Us.

According to Allen Boorstein, chairman emeritus of the BAMA Green Thumb Luncheon, this was the first time in 30 years that representatives from those stores were unable to attend. "It seemed to me like a non-violent demonstration," he commented after the luncheon.
