TRUMP CLOSE TO BUYING, CONVERTING ALEXANDER'S
NEW YORK - A deal for the sale of Alexander's, Inc., is getting close and it could lead to the conversion of the stores into an upscale Bloomingdale's-type chain called Trump's, according to Barbara Res, executive vice-president in charge of development for the Trump Organization.
Last week, Alexander's retained Morgan Stanley & Co. at the request of its two largest shareholders, Donald Trump and Steven Roth, president of Interstate Properties, to arrange for a possible sale of the company.
"There is more than a strong chance that one of the major stockholders will buy the company in the near future, probably within the next few weeks," Res said.
