FAST WICKING CLAIMED FOR NEW 2-LAYER KNIT
NEW YORK -- ICI Fibres has introduced a new two-layer knitted fabric designed to wick moisture from the skin faster than a single-fiber fabric.
Called Aquator, which means water carrier, the fabric is a mechanical blend of Tactel nylon on the inside and 100 percent cotton on the outside.
The fabric is being introduced to the market by Coville, Inc., a Winston Salem, N.C., converter. According to Coville president Henry Jordan, the new fabric wicks moisture much faster than cotton and retains wickability after repeated washings. "It is a way to have a cotton fabric that wicks," he said.
The Tactel nylon used in the fabric is a modified cross-section, extra-fine filament fiber, false-twist...
