GEORGES MARCIANO TESTIFIES ON DESIGN

LOS ANGELES -- Georges Marciano, designer and chairman of Guess, Inc., took the stand Tuesday in the Marciano v. Nakash trial over control of the apparel company and discussed where he gets ideas for the Guess line.

Marciano, often smiling and apparently confident on the stand, acknowledged that he gets ideas from other manufacturers' garments, but he denied that he ever copied another garment and put it in his line. He said he has taken "the shape of one pocket or a flower on a jacket" from other lines and incorporated them into the Guess line.
