U.S. STORES STILL HAVE YEN FOR SEHM

NEW YORK -- Even without the high-profile designer collections, SEHM won't suffer a large drop-off in U.S. buyer attendance.

A majority of America's upper-end specialty stores and department stores are sending buyers with open-to-buy dollars to Paris next week for SEHM. Some noticeable exceptions, though, include Saks, Macy's California and Ultimo in Chicago.

The decision to have the Paris designers show in early July, the same time period as the Italians, appears to have paid off in both dollars and attendance. Retailers report leaving paper in July at the collections but still see SEHM as an important show to attend, especially for direction.
