NORDSTROM N.J. OPENING A WINNER

LOS ANGELES - Nordstrom, Inc., opened its three-level, 245,000-square-foot store in Paramus, N.J., on a high note last week, generating $2 million in sales Friday and Saturday, according to Jack McMillan, president.

This was the second-best opening in the company's history, surpassed only by the San Francisco opening in the fall'88. That unit, which is 335,000 square feet, reportedly did $1.7 million it first day.

McMillan, who was reached at company headquarters in Seattle, also said volume on the second day in Paramus was "very close" to the first.
