Federated, Allied selling 11 stores. (Federated Department Stores Inc., Allied Stores Corp.)

CINCINNATI (FNS) -- Federated Department Stores, Inc., and Allied Stores Corp. have reached agreements to sell nine Jordan Marsh and two Burdines stores for a total of $78 million.

The sales would be part of the previously announced plan to sell 20 of the Burdines and Maas Brothers/Jordan Marsh stores.

Seven Jordan Marsh stores would be purchased by Mervyn's and one by J.C. Penney Co., Inc., in a joint offer from the two retailers. The locations of the stores scheduled to go to Mervyn's are in Plantation, Pompano, Miami, North Miami Beach, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton and Melbourne, Fla. The store slated to go to Penney's is located in Altamonte, Fla.

Two Burdines stores in Tampa and St. Petersburg are slated to go to Montgomery & Ward Co....
