NEW YORK--R.H. Macy & Co., Inc., will close five I. Magnin stores and its entire 34-unit Fantasies by Morgan Taylor women's specialty store division.
In addition, there Aeropostale units will be shuttered along with 15 Charter Club stores.
A Macy's spokesman said the exact number of employees that will lose their jobs has not yet been determined. He noted, however, that there are roughly 100 employees per I. Margin unit and three or four workers per specialty store. Attempts will be made to place as many as possible in other areas of the company, he added.
The spokesman also said it is unlikely any other stores will be closed in the I. Magnin and specialty stores divisions.
