NEW YORK - Replacing commissioned sales with "an incentive system" and "sales targets" is the major issue separating Brooks Bros. management and its unionized sales staff, a Brooks Bros. spokesperson said Tuesday.

As previously reported, Brooks has been unable to reach agreement on a new contract with 200 members of the Amalgamated Clothing & Textile Workers Union at four New York area stores.

A strike vote, originally scheduled for tonight, has been pushed back to Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The Brooks Bros. spokesperson said that "conversations were still taking place" between the two groups, and Brooks' chief executive officer William Roberti was visiting the stores personally on Tuesday to present management's case to union membership. ...
