NEW YORK (FNS) -- A&E Stores, parent company of the Strawberry and J. Chuckles chains, has purchased 19 Plymouth stores for about $7 million.
Plymouth is part of Plymouth Lamston Stores Corp., which is currently operating in Chapter 11 proceedings in bankruptcy court in Newark, N.J. The company has 24 stores remaining.
Before the purchase, A&E Stores, which is based in Ridgefield, N.J., operated 23 women's apparel stores in the New York and New Jersey area. Most of the stores just purchased are located in New York City.
