ST. LOUIS -- Thomas A. Hays has been promoted to the newly created position of deputy chairman of May Department Stores Co.
He has served as president of the department store chain since 1985.
In addition, Jerome T. Loeb, vice-chairman/chief financial officer of the company since 1986, has been promoted to president, effective June 14.
"Tom Hays and Jerry Loeb have each contributed significantly to May's success," said May Co. chairman David Farrell. "They will each continue to carry out their current responsibilities in their new positions, and, over time, Mr. Loeb will assume Mr. Hays' responsibilities."
