ATLANTA -- Lawrence E. Honig has joined Federated Systems Group (FSG), the centralized processing unit of Federated Department Stores, Inc., as president and CEO. Honig reports to James E. Gray, president of Federated's Burdine's division and FSG supervisor.

Honig succeeds Glen Griffith, 59, who is retiring after nearly 20 years with the company. Griffith had served as president and CEO of FSG, formerly SABRE, since its inception in 1985.

In a statement, Federated's president and chief operating officer James M. Zimmerman said: "The company is indebted to Glen Griffith for the vision and foresight that created FSG, and for his years of outstanding service and leadership."
