The four major sports leagues are becoming increasingly involved with programs for city children. The Major League Baseball has its Reviving Baseball in Inner cities program that began in 1992. The program offers children a place to belong other than to a gang. The National Football League has a Football & Academics: A Championship Team program that focuses on education and the National Basketball Assn also has educational programs. The National Hockey League has a program to renovate parks and form street hockey teams.

NEW YORK -- The Big Four pro sport leagues are still reaping multibillions from their licensed team apparel business. And with the extra profits, they're continuing to work on programs that give something back to the fans, kids in particular.
