Warnaco Group Chmn, Pres and CEO Linda J. Wachner has changed the firm from an amalgamation of clothing labels that had sales of $425 million per year in 1986 to a well-defined clothing manufacturer that has sales of $800 per year in 1994. She bought the firm in a leveraged buyout in 1986 with an investment group. They paid a high price because they were competing with a management buyout group. The firm is currently worth $1.1 billion.
