The advent of corporate dress code policies allowing casual dress on Fridays has created a new apparel category that combines sportswear and tailored clothing. A number of men's clothing manufacturers have introduced new lines based on this soft casual style including Perry Ellis and Arrow Sport Club. One industry source reports that there is no consensus about which department this new clothing type should be placed in for retail sales at department stores.
