Polartec is making sure it doesn't get dragged into the recent mess over the recall of fleece produced by Coville Inc.

Maiden Mills, makers of Polartec and Polarfleece performance fabrics, set up a consumer hot line to field the huge number of inquiries it is getting after mass confusion was created over a recall of some flammable fleece products. The number is (800) 371-3896.

The horrifying TV newscast scenes of a sweat-shirt being ignited by a lighter may have caused some confusion, since consumers had trouble distinguishing the fleece material produced by Coville from the fabric made by Malden.

In the Consumer Products Safety Commission recall, 160,000 garments made from a fleecelike material made by Coville are being recalled. ...
