NEW YORK - J. Crew 's planning to open its third store in Manhattan, a 7,000-square-foot unit at 89 Fifth Avenue between 16th and 17th streets.
Robert Haddad, the building's landlord, confirmed Monday that a lease has been signed.
A J. Crew store is under construction on Prince Street between Greene and Mercer streets in Soho. It is scheduled to open m the fall.
J. Crew executives could not be reached for comment.
With only about 30 units, J. Crew is said to be pursuing other possible retaiI locations here and elsewhere in the country. Mall developers, who are anxious to fill space vacated by retailers going out of business or undergoing consolidations, are said to be particularly interested in J. Crew, which has a lot of room for growth....
