The men's clothing industry is expecting growth in two directions during 1996, including men's casual wear and the new return to elegant dressing. Department stores will make efforts to push up the price of traditional suits by offering more designer brands. Prices will increase because fewer suits are being sold. Sweater manufacturers will design better quality products that customers want.
NEW YORK - There is a vibrant feeling of optimism for 1997 among vendors across the men's wear spectrum based on the continued growth of the casual trend and the new movement toward elegant dressing.
