NEW YORK -- Robert Bernard is leaving his post as president and chief operating officer of J. Crew Group Inc.
Executives at J. Crew could not be reached for comment.
In a statement , the company said Arthur Cinader, chairman and CEO, will retain his current positions and also assume Bernard's duties.
Bernard joined J. Crew in late January 1994 after serving as president of the international division of Liz Claiborne Inc., where he began as vice- president of sportswear in 1985. Prior to that, he was vice-president of better sportswear at Macy's San Francisco.
