NEW YORK (FNS) -- Calvin Klein, Guess and Levi Strauss & Co. said they combined efforts to seize 16,097 pairs of counterfeit jeans in Guatemala.

The catch, part of a joint investigation throughout Latin America started in May, included 8,487 Levi's jeans, 4,547 Guess jeans, and 3,063 Calvin Klein jeans found in factories and distribution centers.

A Levi spokesman said civil and criminal actions are pending in Guatemala courts against the leaders of the counterfeit movement, and warrants have been issued for their arrest.

The spokesman called it "one of the most significant seizures Levi Strauss has had in Latin America."
