Men's clothing manufacturers, designers and retailers plan to sell more dressy casual wear for Fridays in 1997. Executives of stores such as Saks describe the trend as corporate casual, which includes shirts and ties. Designers claim that FridayWear evolved from khakis and sport coat into a more sophisticated style, replacing the sloppy look with moderately fitted tweed jackets plus narrower trousers..

NEW YORK -- FridayWear is putting on heirs for next season.

They're the new breed of snappy tweed sport coats, trimmer slacks, dress shirts and ties that are replacing the shapeless jackets, baggy khakis and banded-collar shirts. All became a weeklong ritual and turned corporate casual into a fashion nightmare.
