Sales of men's apparel are lagging on the Internet and World Wide Web, although electronic commerce is booming in fields such travel, cars, and compact discs. The International Data Corp reports 68.5 mil users of the Internet on a global basis, and that there should be 41.9 mil shoppers on the Web by the year 2001. Many retailers and vendors of men's clothing do not know how to use the Web, however, although the sales potential exists.

If consumers buy record numbers of books and CDs off the Internet, shop for cars and make travel arrangements by computer, why won't they buy apparel on the Web?
