Maxim Names Editor From Brit Title.(Brief Article)

NEW YORK -- Felix Dennis Publishing's Maxim, the wildly successful men's magazine, has named Mike Soutar, formerly of British title FHM, as editor in chief.

Soutar is expected to start in May, along with two co-editors, Steve Perrine, formerly editor at large of Cosmopolitan, and James Kaminsky, formerly a senior editor at Conde Nast Women's Sports & Fitness.

He succeeds Mark Golin, who left Maxim last Friday to edit Conde Nast's Details. Soutar, who was editor of FHM (For Him Magazine) from 1994 to 1996, has been credited with turning the title from a freebie into Europe's largest- selling magazine. More recently, he was managing director of KISS-FM, a major British radio station.
