Last Thursday, a limited-edition necktie designed by Nicole Miller was unveiled at the designer's Madison Avenue boutique in New York City -- but this time Miller was more interested in making a political statement than a fashion one.

In an effort to raise public awareness of, and funding for, prostate cancer as part of Prostate Cancer Week, Miller has manufactured 2,000 of the ties, which are silk printed on a navy background with a golden crimson pattern resembling a DNA molecule (the Cancer Research Institute logo). The ties retail for $60 and are being sold at select Nicole Miller stores and through Endocare, a company that manufactures innovative, temperature-based surgical devices and technologies for the treatment of prostate cancer.
