INDIANAPOLIS -- Hat World has been named the fastest-growing Indianapolis-area private company by the Indianapolis Business Journal and is one of the nation's largest carriers of licensed and branded headwear. Started in 1995, Hat World produced revenues of $107,000 in its first few months and jumped nearly $1 million in 1996. The four-year-old retailer currently operates 117 stores in 27 states and is coming off a year of nearly $11 million in revenues -- and projections place sales for this year at about $27 million. We spoke with its president, Jim Harris, and its senior vice-president of operations, Glenn Campbell, to find out how hats have become the hottest young men's accessory and how Hat World intends to be their main supplier.
