NEW YORK -- A renaissance of diversified denim will elevate the fabric's representation to 60 percent of Pacific Sunwear's bottoms offerings for back-to-school -- double the amount of a year ago.
Speaking at the Banc of America Consumer Conference here Wednesday, PacSun chairman and chief executive Greg Weaver acknowledged, "We most definitely have not been top-of-mind for denim for the last few years."
That is about to change, and in a dramatic fashion.
Weaver told analysts that company focus groups revealed PacSun's regular customers were jumping ship and heading to competitors' stores in search of bottoms, especially denim, because PacSun lacked a sufficient assortment.
