Mavi, the fast-growing juniors' and young men's denim label, launched its first television advertisements on Thursday.

The six-week campaign, which is appearing on fashion and music stations like MTV, VH1, Style Channel and E!, is the beginning of a push to establish Mavi as a global denim brand. The advertising will also appear on Canadian TV shows, in both French and English.

Ersin Akarlilar, president of Mavi's U.S. and Canadian operations, said the label chose television because it wanted to stand out from the crowd. "We didn't want to be another page in the magazine. And TV is so effective. We can target our customers very efficiently with cable and get right to our demographic."
