NEW YORK -- First came the bride, now comes the groom.
In yet another step to building the biggest wedding-related business in the nation, May Department Stores Co. brought After Hours Formalwear Inc., the largest tuxedo rental and sales retailer in the U.S., to the altar last week, agreeing to pay roughly $100 million in cash and assumption of debt for the Atlanta-based specialty chain.
With 242 units and annual sales in excess of $110 million, After Hours will operate as part of May's David's Bridal division, the largest retailer of bridal gowns and stores, which the department store company acquired in August 2000. It will continue to be led by Joseph B. Doyle as CEO. Doyle will report to Robert Huth, president and CEO of David's. After Hours...
