Starting Tuesday, more than 18,000 representatives of manufacturers making everything from pajamas to picture frames will descend on Manhattan's Jacob Javits Center for the Licensing 2002 International Show. While the attendees come from disparate industries, they're all looking for the same thing: that perfect mate among the circus of brands, entertainment properties and proprietary artwork up for grabs to wed to their manufacturing prowess.
However, while apparel makers have long thrived on the buying and selling of fashion names like Ralph Lauren, Ron Chereskin and Allyn Saint George, you won't find those conventional men's wear labels represented at Jacob Javits this week -- indeed only a handful of apparel brands bother to set up booths at licensing's...
