Despite interests in agricultural chemicals, 200-year-old DuPont is still the top producer of synthetic fibers under a single name, although you can expect that to change when it spins off its DTI division. The company currently produces polyester, nylon and spandex. (This total does not include spin-offs, but does include DuPont's share of joint ventures.)
