Want my opinion on the recent men's wear stories in three top publications? Well, you're gonna get it.

The story in The New York Times on necktie gifts was upbeat and fun. New York magazine's report on power dressing was just so-so. And Time magazine's two-pager on high-tech casual slacks was a downer.

Let me explain. Men have been dressing for business again since Lehman Bros., Deutsche Bank and Bear, Stearns decreed: "Dress up when you meet the public." Need proof? The suit, dress shirt and tie businesses are all up in stores.
