NEW YORK -- The Zagat Survey, best known for its restaurant and hotel guides, is diving headfirst into the mecca of shopping by publishing its first guide to New York City shopping.

The guide surveyed 7,100 local shop-aholics and had them rate and review 2,193 stores. Each shop was rated for merchandise, presentation, service and cost on a 0-to-30 scale. The overall winner was Bloomingdale's, which ranked as the most popular store in the city. No surprise then that the store will host a press conference today to announce the results of the survey.

Besides just rating the shops, participants also answered a selection of shopping-related questions, including the most-trendy neighborhoods with the best shopping -- Soho and the meat-packing district....
