Mark Weber's geographical glitch provided a much-needed belly laugh to the 1,000-plus people who turned out for the American Apparel & Footwear Association's American Image Awards last Monday night. In presenting the Man of the Year award to his friend and colleague, Phillips-Van Heusen chief Bruce Klatsky, Weber said Klatsky's son was unable to attend because the newly minted physician was in Nicaragua searching for a cure for malaria. "Sorry, Mark, but he's in Nigeria," Klatsky said when he stepped up to the podium. (The news obviously came as a relief to co-host Paula Zahn, who said with a sigh: "Oh good, I was thinking that now there's malaria in Nicaragua.")
