CARLOS MIELE TAKES ON NYC.(Sao Paulo-based designer expands to New York)

NEW YORK -- Move over, Gisele, there's a new Brazilian export set to win the hearts of American men: Carlos Miele.

The Sao Paulo-based designer opened his first U.S. flagship here on Friday, at 408 West 14th Street, in the trendy meatpacking district within sight of the Jeffrey, Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney boutiques. While the 3,800-square-foot space is presided over by the colorful, hyper-sexy dresses Miele is known for, about 30 percent of the space is devoted to men's wear.

"The men's customer here will probably be someone who follows fashion, and is looking for new choices," said Miele, 39. "I think the future of fashion is about details. People are bored with clean, simple pieces that make you look like everyone else."
