DARIEN, Conn. -- "It's the only place you can buy a tuxedo and a kayak at the same time."

That's the way Gina Zangrillo Reilly, general manager, sums up the Darien Sport Shop, a business founded by her father, Stephen Zangrillo, in 1946. Over the years the store has grown substantially to sell everything from Hickey Freeman suits, Rainforest jackets and Vineyard Vines boxers to snowboards, trampolines and soccer uniforms.

In the industry, the store keeps a low profile, but in its community it's a key part of what makes Darien tick. Reilly is a vice-president in the local Chamber of Commerce who has won the Volunteer of the Year award three times. The company donated the first ambulance for the volunteer EMT department, it sponsors local sports teams...
