ROTHMANS EXTENDS LEASE FOR 12 YEARS.(Brief Article)

NEW YORK -- Rothmans, a men's wear fixture on Union Square for nearly two decades, is planning to stay put.

Last week the independent retailer signed a lease extension that will allow the store to remain in its location for the next 12 years. The store has been at 200 Park Avenue South at 17th Street for the past 17 years.

"We had five years left on our lease and the rents in this neighborhood are ridiculously high," president Ken Giddon explained. "We knew our chance to renew five years from now would be slim to none, so we went to the landlord and offered to pay a higher price now for a long-term extension."
