MILAN -- Giorgio Armani's Milan retail empire just got a little bigger.

The designer opened his second Armani Jeans shop on the hip Corso di Porta Ticinese last week. The narrow street just outside the city's historic center has become the shopping district of choice for fashion-forward teens and young adults, thanks to a mix of directional boutiques and vintage stores.

Armani, who made a surprise visit the morning of the opening to give final direction about lighting, said it was the appeal of the street that convinced him to open a second boutique in the city.

"Right now the jeans industry is split into two products, mass and trend. Obviously we're on the trend end, and it's important to be visible...
