While the fashion press loves to hoist flags about clearly defined trends -- think preppie, metrosexual and so forth -- the degree to which those trends translate to young men is debatable. Fads certainly manifest themselves in the mall, but efforts to reduce male American teenagers to "jocks," "preps," "hip-hop kids" and the like are usually in vain. The latest consumer research indicates that young guys place a priority on comfort, and will work fashion into their wardrobes when it is available and affordable.
