MONTREAL -- Hudson's Bay Co. is reorganizing its management in a bid to boost sales and come up with new retailing concepts. The Toronto-based retailer is currently moving toward integrating its Bay department stores and Zellers discount operations into a single entity under the umbrella of the HBC Merchandise Group.
The store groups will continue to operate separately, the company said, but back-office and merchandising operations will be merged.
Effective Feb. 1, Marc Chouinard, currently president and chief operating officer of The Bay and the company's Home Outfitters chain, becomes president of HBC Merchandising Group. His new role will be to create a single merchandise and marketing function for HBC.
