NEW YORK -- Roger Markfield is turning the page on his retail career.
The president of American Eagle Outfitters Inc., who has been credited with spearheading the growth of the red-hot chain, will step down from his post next year. He will continue to serve the company in an advisory role through 2012, working to develop AEO's new retail concept and other growth initiatives. He will also give counsel on the direction of the flagship brand.
Susan McGalla, the company's current executive vice-president of merchandising, has been promoted to president of the American Eagle brand. She will be responsible for the design, merchandising and marketing functions of the 777-unit chain. McGalla joined the company in 1994, rising to general merchandise manager...
