ATLANTA -- On May 12, when high-altitude mountaineer Ed Viesturs reached the top of Annapurna, sometimes considered the most dangerous 8,000-meter peak in the world, he was wearing Mountain Hardwear.

Viesturs, whose summiting of Annapurna made him the first American to climb all 14 of the world's peaks over 8,000 meters without oxygen, is a fervent spokesman for the Richmond, Calif.-based maker of high-end outerwear, apparel, accessories, tents and sleeping systems. "It's all I've been wearing since 1994," he said. "They're my clothing supplier, and they're the top of the heap. They have amazing attention to detail and it's just great stuff."
