NEW YORK -- Federated Department Stores is expected to quickly sell the May Department Stores Co.'s Bridal Group once its acquisition of the St. Louis-based retailer is completed -- and one of the top prospects is rumored to be Men's Wearhouse.
Another possible buyer is an investment group spearheaded by current Bridal Group president and CEO Robert Huth, according to sources.
Men's Wearhouse declined to comment, while a spokesperson for Huth said there was no truth to the rumor.
In a research report last Thursday, Deborah L. Weinswig of Citigroup Smith Barney wrote: "In our opinion, FD [Federated] is interested in divesting the Bridal Group shortly following the close of the FD-May transaction as it...
