NEW YORK -- David Chu's second career is getting off to a solid start.
The founder and former CEO Of Nautica, which was sold to VF Corp. in August 2003, debuted his new collection at Saks Fifth Avenue earlier this month, and early results are encouraging.
"We've reordered three times already," said Bill Wynne, buyer of men's classification clothing for the upscale retailer.
Steven Toia, Chu's vice-president of sales, said that in the two weeks the line has been in the store, sales have surpassed expectations. "Every classification is selling and our average sale is over $2,500."
